Most of you have heard of the names of all of these fragrances until you get to that last one- Vieux Carré. Many of you are asking what is that? And how do you say it?

Vieux Carré (pronounced VOO-kar-A) is a New Orleans legendary cocktail first stirred long ago at the famous Carousel Bar at Hotel Monteleone.

"Like so many classic cocktails from that city, the recipe represents the crosscurrents of America at the time: brandy and liqueur from France, Italian vermouth, rye whiskey from just up the Mississippi and Caribbean bitters. The Vieux Carré is at once boozy, sweet, bitter and smooth—in other words, New Orleans." -

Bring a little NOLA to your home by treating dad to these fragrances and making dad a Vieux Carré at home. Here is a great recipe to try via The Spruce Eats

  • 3/4 ounce rye whiskey
  • 3/4 ounce Cognac
  • 3/4 ounce sweet vermouth
  • 1/2 ounce Benedictine Liqueur
  • 1-2 dashes Bitters
  • 1-2 dashes Angostura Aromatic Bitters
  • Garnish: cherry

  1. Add all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled.
  2. Strain into a cocktail glass filled with ice.
  3. Garnish with a maraschino cherry or lemon peel.

We hope you have a happy Father's Day! We hope you bring a fresh fragrance to dad's car, home, or office with a masculine fragrance from Orleans Home Fragrances.
